DALLAS, TX, October 21, 2021 — This morning at a press conference, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced he will call a special session of the Florida Legislature to pass legislation protecting Floridians from losing their jobs due to vaccine mandates. Conservative Republican Don Huffines applauded DeSantis for the move and condemned Texas Governor Greg Abbott for refusing to enact stronger protections for Texans.
Huffines issued the following statement:
“Vaccine mandates are an unconscionable attack on the liberties of citizens. I am very encouraged to see Florida Governor Ron DeSantis call a special session of the Florida Legislature to protect Floridians from these onerous mandates. At the same time, I am ashamed that, once again, Texans will fall behind on this issue due to the failed leadership of Greg Abbott, who refuses to call a special session of the Texas Legislature to ban vaccine mandates.”
Huffines further added:
“If I were governor, vaccine mandates would have been banned in the regular session, and my administration would have been prosecuting businesses for months. Unfortunately, Greg Abbott has defended vaccine mandates until pressure from my campaign, the Texas GOP, and grassroots Texans forced him to reverse his position and claim he opposes them. Now is the time for him to prove that he means it.”
Don Huffines is a proud fifth-generation Texan, husband, father, grandfather, and self-made entrepreneur. A committed conservative, Huffines is fighting to safeguard Texans’ elections, phase out property taxes, and secure the border once and for all. Huffines is challenging Gov. Greg Abbott from the right in the Texas Republican primary. Texans deserve leadership. No excuses.
