Retired ICE Special Agent Victor Avila Endorses Don Huffines for Governor
DALLAS, TX, September 28, 2021—Today, the Don Huffines campaign announced retired supervisory special agent Victor Avila is endorsing Huffines in his Republican primary campaign against Greg Abbott.
Mr. Avila served his country honorably for years at Immigration and Customs Enforcement. He received numerous commendations for his work, including the Excellence in Law Enforcement Award by the ICE Hispanic Agents Association and the Homeland Security Investigations Excellence in Public Service Award.
While on official assignment in Mexico, Special Agent Avila suffered multiple gunshot wounds and survived a violent ambush by the Mexican Los Zetas drug cartel where his partner tragically lost his life.
Special Agent Avila issued this statement:
“I’ve personally experienced how the warzone at our border is taking lives, destroying families, and pushing our state and nation to the brink of destruction. Greg Abbott could have used his powers under Article I, Section 10 of the US Constitution to end illegal immigration over the Texas border, but he refused. I will not accept the finger-pointing and excuses from politicians any longer. This problem will not go away if we keep doing the same things and electing the same people over and over. That’s why I’m endorsing Don Huffines for Governor of Texas. Don has the courage to do what Abbott will not.”
“It is an honor to have Special Agent Avila on our team. We appreciate his sacrifice, and we are dedicated to ensuring the border crisis is brought to a peaceful and secure resolution. No longer will border cities like McAllen, Brownsville, and Del Rio live in fear. We are taking our state back.”
Don Huffines is a proud fifth-generation Texan, husband, father, grandfather, and self-made entrepreneur. A committed conservative, Huffines is fighting to safeguard Texans’ elections, phase out property taxes, and secure the border once and for all. Huffines is challenging Gov. Greg Abbott from the right in the Texas Republican primary. Texans deserve leadership. No excuses.
